Abesol(?) also helped my kids (although I only gave it when it was really bad). The best remedy was the cold, wet teething rings. If you haven't tried this particular kind of teething ring, you might want to try it. You put them in the freezer until they get cold and then let the baby suck on it. Other remedies are a little brandy on the gum. I never tried this.
