[misc.consumers] How long before a check becomes "stale dated"?

A check (without a written limitation) is "good" forever. There is
nothing specified in the government regulations concerning this issue.

A bank can (and usually does) reserve the right to only cash a check
if there are sufficient funds to cover the check. This right protects
the bank in the instance when the account from which the check has been
written has been closed out.
