I just saw Metropolis last night and loved it. I'd gladly pay to see again, which is rare for me. Metropolis is a 1926 silent film by Fritz Lang which has been touched-up: hand tinting some frames, redoing some frames that were lost, etc. The score is a new 1984 version featuring people like Pat Benatar, Bonnie Taylor, Loverboy, and a fair amount of music written just to fit the movie. Most of the time I like the new score, but 2 or 3 times I felt that it was out of place. However the best part of the movie was its visual quality. In particular, the female lead (somebody Helm) is fantastic!!! I also loved the odd robot-mixed-with-rythm quality of the workers tending the machines. Summary: Great. Randy Day.
