[misc.consumers] Question about color

I'm looking for some information on a good VGA or better monitor. If
you've had any experience with any of the following monitors, could you
please email me? I will post a summary to the Net if sufficient responses
are generated. Both positive and negative responses desired.

NEC Multisync 2A (800X600 Dual Scan?),	NEC Multisync 3D (1024X768 Multiscan),
Sony (Any multiscan model), Packard Bell 8530 (720X480), Zenith (640X480).

I am using an ATI VGA Wonder and whatever monitor I get needs to be able
to run both color (thru VGA+) and Hercules graphics. I don't know if the
pure analog monitors (i.e. NEC 2A) can do Hercules.

Also, do I really need more than the 720X480 resolution of the relatively
cheap Packard Bell ($389). Is the higher resolution worth the extra $$ ?

I will not be using the monitor for CAD -- just home use with a good paint
program etc.

Thanks in advance.

Since you have the VGA wonder, it has hi res drivers for some software to
go to 1024X780. Personally I have the original multisync and have loved it sin
ce day one(I have an ATI EGA wonder love it too.) You need a multifrequency
monitor to hadle the hires stuff. I would recommend the NEC 3D if you can
afford it. One of the best places to buy it mail order is PC Connection.
I highly recommend them as being reliable about returning deffective or other-
wise products for a refund. They carry the 3D. I don't have the price off-han
d though. The davertise in PC and in PC week.

I am also using an ATI VGA Wonder (512K), attached to a Seiko CM1430
analog multisync monitor. They work very well together (the card's setup
program even has an entry for the Seiko in its monitor-selection menu!)
The Seiko can handle anything the VGA Wonder puts out with the single
exception of the 132-column text modes. (I.e. it can handle 800x600 and
1024x768).
The Seiko is currently available for $519 from a place called
Computer Mail Order.
Note that I have no connection with CMO other than being a very
satisfied customer.
