HCR Corporation is a Toronto-based developer of UNIX systems software.
We specialize in operating systems, compilers (especially optimizing
compilers), and system software products. We have been in business
since 1976, and we've been in the UNIX business for all of that time.
(You may know us under our earlier name "Human Computing Resources".)
The company staff are primarily technical professionals. We offer an

Development of our business has now created three new openings.
1. Project Manager
We are now expanding our activities in networking, communications, and
particularly in distributed processing. This growth has created an
opening for a project manager with the following qualifications:
+ a strong and varied technical background with at least 5 years
of experience which includes software development as part of a
team and work in communications, networking, distributed processing,
and/or UNIX internals;
+ experience in taking ideas from the development stage to market
delivery, and ability to match technical specifications to market
requirements;
+ proven creativity;
+ experience managing a software development team;
+ excellent verbal and written communication skills;
+ experience in customer relations with respect to either the support
or development of software.
2. UNIX and VMS Programmer/Support Specialist
The application is an implementation of UNIX under VMS, called UNITY.
The position involves developing and maintaining UNITY, as well as
supporting UNITY customers.
The successful candidate will have experience with both the VMS and
the Unix operating systems, as well as with programming in C. Good
communication skills and a knowledge of operating system principles
are important.
3. UNIX, C Programmer (Programming Language Products)
HCR has a range of language products which run on many UNIX machines.
The position involves porting, debugging, and developing these pro-
ducts on many different computers such as the IBM RT PC, the HP
9000/840, the Convex C1, AT&T 3Bs and 6300+, IBM mainframes, etc.
The successful candidate will have strong C programming skills, good
communication skills and UNIX experience, as well as an interest in
programming languages. Experience with BASIC or Pascal is a definite
asset.
