<> [BTW, if anybody else wants to do this, the collection should prove interesting and provide some insight into ongoing discussions.] This is to alleviate a little confusion that seems to have arisen recently. I, Craig Werner, am in my third year of the Medical Scientist Training Program sponsored by the National Institutes of Health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I have completed the first two years of medical school (Basic Science), Physical Diagnosis, and a selective in Primary Care, and have passed the National Medical Boards, Part I. I am currently in my first year of full-time graduate work, which will lead to a Masters degree in Microbiology and Immunology and a PhD in Molecular Parasitology. I am currently involved in the cloning of the mosquitoe-borne filarial parasite, Bruggia malayi, which is one of agents causing Acute Filarial Fever, Lymphedema, Tropical Pulmonary Eosinophilia, and Elephantiasis. Along with another worm, Wucheria bancrofti, these diseases affect about 250 million people, primarily in South Asia. Following succcesful completion of my doctoral thesis, I will continue on to the clinical clerkships and electives that constitute the last two years of medical school, graduating with the twin degrees of MD and PhD in June 1991 (I hope.) I am NOT (yet) a doctor, but I will be one someday. Hence the honorific Dr. Werner, while flattering, is not yet appropriate. -- Craig Werner (MD/PhD '91) !philabs!aecom!werner (1935-14E Eastchester Rd., Bronx NY 10461, 212-931-2517) "Comedy, like Medicine, was never meant to be practiced by the general public."
