What is the current thinking on how to test whether the thyroid is working properly? Various medical books I have talk about the problems with different tests. A book I read by an endocrinologist (Broda Barnes) says that the best way is by measuring one's temperature in the armpit for 10 minutes before getting out of bed in the morning; anything below 97.8 means that the thyroid may have a problem. Is there a test that is definitive? Glen McCluskey ..tektronix!athena!glenm
