Reading this note and a previous one in the same time makes me wonder: has anyone looked into electrical stimulation of the diapghram, for people with this condition -- sort of like a pacemaker for the lungs. I have heard of adults developing this condition (or one related to it), although what I read about may have been a psychological problem. Walking requires coordination of many muscles, breathing would require only the diaphragm (maybe other muscles would need to assist on the rib cage?)
