Many of you may remember the contributions of Doug Mosher to both
sci.med and sci.med.aids, under his familiar (jawbreaker) address
SPGDCM%UCBCMSA.Berkeley.EDU@jade.Berkeley.EDU
and also under the pseudonym he used for a while on his experiences
as a person with AIDS, "PWA Richard D." Doug died of AIDS-related
respiratory complications on December 24. There is a quite wonderful
announcement which was composed by his partner of 4 years posted
to soc.motss.
I was lucky enough to come to know Doug personally over the past
few years. He had an insatiable curiosity about everything, and
sitting with him over coffee in his kitchen would leave my head
spinning over the breadth of his interests. I last saw him in
early October, and the disease had finally begun to catch up with
him. When I hugged him goodbye, I feared that it would be the
last time we'd see each other.
