[net.music] Review of Ralph's Buy-or-Die BBS

ir408@sdcc6.UUCP (09/11/84)

I recently dialed in to Ralph's BBS in San Francisco. Those of you
unfamiliar with the Ralph label, the Residents, Snakefinger, etc.
probably should not bother with this, but all Ralph freaks are advised
to sell all there non-Ralph records so they can afford to do this
regularly. The system is 300 baud, 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop, full
duplex,
and has a 30 minute time limit. It features an on line catalog of
Ralph products, including videotapes such as THE MOLE SHOW !!!
You can order using your favorite plastic. There are announcements
of future Ralph events and releases, reviews of independent label
releases, gossip, plus normal BBS functions (twisted in that special
Ralph way, of course) . Big Brother certainly is watching out for us
in SF.
I hope this encourages all of you sickos to get on the Ralph
band wagon as it rolls slowly into the tar pits.

The problem with Frank Johnson (the BBS) and the reason
AT&T doesn't make quite so much off me these days is that
there is relatively little interesting news and relatively
a lot of adolescent smut from people who choose obscene
names for themselves no doubt to set the appropriate tone
for their drivel. I get more from the 1 in 8000 articles
in net.music that ISN'T about everyman music.

Good tunes to you,
