A Resolution to the Mark E. Smith Phenomenon
During the past couple of weeks the Mark E. Smith usenet dribble has
started again. Everyday megabytes of useless data is transported by
thousands of sites at some considerable expense.
I therefore propose the following resolution:
I Any and all messages or responses to a Mark Ethan Smith
message shall be ignored. Do not waste bandwidth.
II Although optional, this policy has been advocated by other
systems. All news administrators are urged to:
/usr/lib/news/expire -f era1987@violet.berkeley.edu
immediately after unbatching incoming news.
Carrying the Mark E. Smith traffic has to cease purely for financial reasons.
First we support Mark via our tax dollars. Then we see our tax dollars
being put to use insulting us and we are paying to propagate the trash
throughout the net.
No, it must stop and it must stop NOW!
Join us in the effort to save usenet from Mark Ethan Smith. Mark is so
worried about having its rights violated, that it forgets about how it treats
others. (I presume it is appropriate since I know the "she" word is out and
"he" is not correct since it denotes masculinity which is not present.) We
too have rights and can exercise them by simply cutting Mark's dribble off
at the source.
We are looking forward to NOT seeing your support.
Thank you
