[sci.crypt] Looking for non-RSA public key encryption source

paul@vcvax1.UUCP (paul) (01/19/87)

Thanks for the people responding to my query regarding
public domain implementations of RSA. Several people
informed me that RSA was a licensed algorithm (!) so that
no public domain version existed. I received no flames
at all (the worst was a suggestion that I was "sweetly naive",
which I take as a compliment). What kindly and well-behaved gentlepeople!

This leads to my next query: are there other public key
encryption schemes which ARE public domain, and if so,
does anyone have leads on them?

Responses by mail, please -- I will forward copies to
net-people expressing an interest.

Thanks,

Paul Kleppner
