[sci.crypt] Inquiry: Survey of the Time-Domain Reflectometer

X-Remark: *Possible Duplicate--Pnews Had Problem Posting Earlier Copy*

We are considering compiling a bibliography of documents relating to technical
security measures and technical surveillance countermeasures. We hope that
our bibliography will be extensive and will give a complete treatment to
the topic at hand. You, the readers of the posted groups, may contribute
directly to the success of this effort.

As a sampling of technical literature, we are first attempting to create
a subset bibliography on time-domain reflectometry. Those familiar with
the hardware will know of its high level of usage in both laboratory and
field applications for both security and standards (or benchmarking) work.
But little has apparently been published on the topic; opening this small
niche in bibliography will likely lead to a greater understanding for us
on the level of effort required to create the overall bibliography.

Electronic security is often used to avoid the need for using cryptography;
it is definitely a growth industry. For example, observe the exponential
increase in the use of TEMPEST hardware during the 70s and 80s.

Please: If you have some reference which you feel may have some bearing
on the topic at hand or on TSCM generally, please send it to:

Followups are directed to sci.crypt, although I'd prefer you reply using
electronic mail. If there's any real interest, I will summarize your
responses and post them to sci.crypt.
