I find the Mastiff, and other RPV's interesting, as i'm sure many people do, an I thought some of you might want to read up on this. The Febuary 1987 copy of Discover has a nice article about it, about 10 pages, with diagrams, and pictures, and is very informative. It also talks of other RPV's, mainly the Navy's Pioneer. Here is a little about the Pioneer: Wing Span 16.9 ft. Length 14 ft. Gross Weight 400 lbs. Cruising speed 100 MPH Range 900 miles It is radio controlled by a pilot from the back of a truck, and the radio signals are encrypted. They use gyro-stabalized mini-cameras, and be equiped with radar jamming equipment, and very effective in aiming the 16-inch guns of the battleship New Jersey, and have proven their worth in the Bekaa Valley, in Lebanon. Once again, that's the Febuary, 1987 issue of Discover, page 78. -- ====================================== End Of Message UUCP: (cbosgd, hplabs!hp-sdd, sdcsvax, nosc, inhp4)!crash!guhsd000 UUCP(pnet): (cbosgd, hplabs!hp-sdd, sdcsvax, nosc, inhp4)!crash!pnet01!guhsd000 ARPA: crash!guhsd000@nosc.mil INET: guhsd000@crash.CTS.COM CIS: 73717,226 TELEX: Temp.
