The DES standard, in FIPS Pub 46 + 81, demands a hardware solution, or a specialwaiver. That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the restrictions on exporting encryption, which covers *all* methods, including programs, as Digital lawyers seem to indicate. The argument was that since DES is well known outside, exporting it means nothing, and it should therefore be ok. I think you missed the point, Mr. McCormack. dov
