Moreover, an article whose entire message is a newsgroup redirection is dangerously close to "get your stupid discussion out of this newsgroup", which is improper nettiquette*. That leaves "I am responding to you, but in a different newsgroup", which I think many people would ignore. I understand your point, but I think the "hit-and-run" solution is best.
