A friend of mine will be working at a university in Hunan (People's Republic of China) for some time. For that time he is looking for a way to send & receive E-mail. Is there any possibility to do so? And if, where? Hunan is a province in China approx. 400 km (250 mi) from Hong Kong. -- uucp: mcvax!eurifb!benno | Ben J. China now has their own connection into the international X.25 network that links Australia, Japan, North America and Europe (as well as, no doubt, other regions). While I was in Shanghai last month, I successfully connected from Jiao Tong University to the WELL. The cost is 3 yuan per minute, so your friend might find it a bit expensive for casual use. Also, I believe that one needs a leased line from the site into the local network node, as well as what appears to be a 1200 baud modem attached to that line. Good luck. -- Andrew Scott Beals bandy@lll-crg.arpa or {lll-crg,hoptoad,hplabs,apple}!well!bandy
