[misc.misc] Do you run an archive server?

chuq@plaid.Sun.COM (Chuq Von Rospach) (03/31/88)

Do you run an archive server? I'm putting together a list of archive servers
to make it easier to find what data is out there and available. This list
will be similar to the mailing list listings that Spaf posts on a regular
basis. This list would be appropriate either for sites using the
archive-server software or that have software available for anonymous uucp.
It's not for anonymous ftp sites on the arpanet, since that's really
available to a fairly limited part of the USENET population.

If you have an archive server you want on the list, drop me a note about it.
A sample entry (using my archive server) is included below:

Name:	Fictional Reality Archive Server
Server address: archive-server@plaid.sun.com
		..!sun!plaid!archive-server
Contact: chuq@plaid.sun.com
	 ..!sun!plaid!chuq
Run by: Chuq Von Rospach
Services:
o Fanzine: back issues of OtherRealms
	o Desktop: archives of comp.text.desktop
o HyperCard: archives of Hyper-Hackers and Windoids
o Mac: some random Macintosh files, and QuicKey sets for the
	       QuicKey mailing list.

I'll post the first copy of this once the influx of servers dies down.
