[misc.misc] Another Telecom Guide Available

telecom@bu-cs.BU.EDU (TELECOM Moderator) (03/12/89)

I have posted another telecom user's guide in our archives for interested
parties. This latest directory was provided by Michael Grant, and is an
alphabetical listing of country codes (and selected cities within those
countries) which can be dialed direct from the United States. It is
intended as a companion to the earlier Guide to North American Area Codes.

These are available * by ftp only * from bu-cs.bu.edu.

Using regular ftp protocol, login as anonymous to bu-cs.bu.edu, and
supply a password. Then 'cd telecom-archives', and 'ls' to see what is
available. The files you will want are --

            'country.codes.list' and 'guide.to.areacodes'

If you want an interesting program for your system which allows users
to type in the command 'areacode xxx' and have a geographic
description of area xxx returned to them, then also take the file called
'areacode.program.in.c' and compile it on your end.

I hope you like them.
