[misc.misc] CALL FOR VOTES -- talk.morality

goldfarb@ocf.berkeley.edu (02/17/90)

[There was originally discussion of a talk.politics.gay. Apparently,
 this was the outcome.-eliot]

This is the first call for votes for a proposed new group, "talk.mor-
ality", devoted to discussion of conflicting value systems. The group was
originally proposed as a forum for the debate over the morality of homo-
sexuality, but discussion on news.groups showed that a group with a broader
scope would be a better idea. Accordingly, this vote is about a group housing
any and all debates/flame wars over conflicts of morality. Topics would
include (but not be limited to): the morality of terrorism or civil disobed-
ience; the acceptability of recreational drug use; the acceptability of
various sexual practices; the acceptability of euthanasia.
To vote, send mail to goldfarb@ocf.berkeley.edu, or !ucbvax!ocf!gold-
farb. Please include an unambiguous 'yes' or 'no' both in the subject line
and in the body of the text. The voting period will begin at 12:01 AM on
Saturday, February 17 and will continue for 30 days. ending on March 19.
I will try to acknowledge each vote received, and will post a mass acknowl-
edgement around the middle of the voting period.
