Hi folks,
Due to an error on my part there was no issue V8 #131. You
haven't missed anything.
I have been receiving messages lately from the mailer Daemon
saying that mailboxes were protected at some sites, and that some
hosts were down. If you have been having trouble receiving
SF-LOVERS, please let me know and maybe we can straighten things
out. I hate reading all that returned-to-sender junk.
At this time I would like to wish everyone out there a Merry
Christmas, or a belated Channukah or Merry Whatever-it-is that you
celebrate this time of year.

I would like to ask everyone when submitting messages to
sf-lovers to please try and limit your message to one topic. It is
much easier to get the messages into a digest that way.
Also, when answering a book-request please try and indicate
which request your message answers. It is very hard for me (and the
people who make the requests) to figure out which story line goes
with the title you've sent in your message.
	Your help is appreciated.

In the last issue I announced that Larry Niven's "Down in
Flames" was available via FTP at Rutgers. Use the ANONYMOUS login
of FTP to access it. The file is in <jaffe.sfl>down-in-flames.txt.
Happy reading.

HALLELUJAH!!!!!!! It seems that we have finally solved our
problems in regards to the connection between SF-LOVERS on the ARPA
network and NET.SF-LOVERS on USENET. When SRI changed machines,
our connection was lost. We now have a UNIX machine here at Rutgers
and we are connected to the network and have re-established our
connection between the two newsgroups.
This means that messages mailed to SF-LOVERS@RUTGERS will be
queued up for the digest as before but will now also go to
net.sf-lovers on the usenet automatically. Messages passing through
net.sf-lovers on the usenet will now be forwarded to me for the
digest so the people on the ARPA network can read and enjoy.
A very special thanks to the following people: Mel Pleasant
(Pleasant@rutgers) for writing the code and helping to set things up
for us; and Donn Seeley (Donn@utah-cs) for forwarding usenet
messages to me in the interim.
And now, on with the show.......
