[I want my AL-TV!]

This weekend I recorded some videos off of MTV onto my Beta-HiFi.
I was playing around with the still-step feature, going through
some of the videos, and I noticed a strange thing. In the video for
"Talking In Your Sleep" by the Romantics, there is the intro scene
of a young lady taking off her clothes. Of course it is carefully
edited to make sure nothing gets shown that would offend anyone.
But between the change of scene from the young lady to the band
singing, there is a very brief shot of her nude. This only lasts for
one frame, or 1/30th of a second. You can't tell it is there when
watching at normal speed. Also, in the video for "Rock of Ages" by Def
Leppard, there is another one-frame shot of a burning cross. I don't know
what that is suppose to convey, but I thought it was neat. Some
subliminal messages perhaps? I haven't had time to check many others,
cause it takes quite a bit of time to go through a 3-5 minute video
at 1/10 speed.

Also, has anyone ever heard or seen the video for "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper?
I finally heard what that song is about. Evidently "She Bop" is the world's
only song written as a tribute to, ahem, masterbation. "Bop" is an
obscure (British?) synonym to the act of self gratification. The whole song,
and especially the video is full of references to the act. For example
some of the lyrics read:
"Now I don't worry, and I don't fret, there ain't no law against it yet."
"'Cause I can't stop messing with the danger zone."
   "I might go blind."
And the chorus:
"She bop, he bop, we bop. I bop, you bop, and they bop."
The video is even better. There are several scenes that are somewhat
subliminal. Not the 1/30th of a second kind, just things going on in
the background to the main action. For example, she is having this
dream of winning a bingo game. The billboard in the background reads
"Masterbingo" and the MC is holding a book entitled "Ida and Out".
Later, during the cartoon segment, she stops at a gas station to fill
up the motorcycle. The gas pumps look to be of the old fashioned kind,
but are round cylindrical objects with rounded tops. They are labeled
"Good", "Better", and "Best". Each one is progressively longer and
wider. And finally, at the very end, the words appear on the screen:

"And, in the immortal words of [somebody (?)], "Everybody Bops"

This reminds me of a quote I once read in one of the other news groups,
paraphrased somewhat: "There are two kinds of people in the world, the
ones who bop, and the ones who admit it."

I think it's great, she having the guts to pull something over like
this. I wonder if the friendly folks at MTV know?

RE: Cyndi Lauper on PEOPLE magazine with the caption "She Bops"

Perhaps it was PEOPLE's attempt to warn their readship of what masterbation
can do to you. No more "You'll go blind" or "Grow Hair On Your Hands." If
you masterbate, you will now end up wearing bizarre clothing and making lots
of money.

Not true! There was (still is?) a local Atlanta band called "Baby and
the Pacifiers" that got air play of a song called "Double-O". The
name came from holding your hands in the shape of an 'O' and stacking
them together (and I can't believe I'm explaining this!). A great song
with lyrics like
	"Oh when I'm lonely
	 I go
To get me some of that
	 Double-O"
To top if off, there's a guitar solo in the middle that's really the
theme from James Bond movies (007 --- get it?).

Paraphrase:
She Bop is the only song written about masterbation.

I may be wrong, but I thought the Jackson Browne song about
Rosie fits the category, as in:

Rosie, you're all right
you wear my ring
When you hold me tight
Baby, that's my thing
...
Looks like it's you and me again tonight

Atleast, that is what I remember someone saying.

How about "Pocket Pool" by Killer Pussy?

Mama's little baby plays pocket pool, pocket pool.
Mama's little baby is a pocket pool man.
