[net.music] Badfinger

Can anyone tell me if Badfinger's first (perhaps only? I'm
not familiar with their discography) album is still in print?
I heard Day After Day (I think that's the title) the other day
on the radio, and it got me to thinking about how Badfinger was
really ahead of their time, in that they were a good power-pop
band. What songs are on this album, anyway?

Any mini-reviews?

Thanks (mail a reply),

I've got a little Badfinger info that might help you out some.
Their original record company was Apple (the Beatles' creation) and it
is safe to say that their best stuff can be found on this label.
However, some other label (I think Warner Bros.) picked up their
contract after Apple's demise, and they may have reissued their
earlier stuff. Although Apple albums are out of print in the U.S.,
I have come across Badfinger albums fairly regularly in used record
stores.

Badfinger is a Liverpool band (sound familiar?) originally known as
the Iveys, and one album, "Maybe Tomorrow" was released under this
name in the U.K., but not in the U.S. After some minor personnel changes,
they became Badfinger, and released the Paul McCartney penned tune,
"Come and Get It", which became their first big hit. This song also
was included in their first album as Badfinger, 1970's
"Magic Christian Music." This album was followed by "No Dice" later that
year, and then "Straight Up" in late 1971. "Straight Up" includes
"Day after Day", along with "Take it All", "Baby Blue", "Money", "Flying",
"I'd Die, Babe", "Name of The Game", "Suitcase", "Sweet Tuesday Morning",
"Sometimes", "Perfection", and "It's Over". Their last album on Apple
that I have record of is "Ass", released in 1973.
