The Cadillacs recorded "GLORIA" in the mid fifties (a street corner classic). Also the group `Them' recorded "GLORIA" in the sixties. I believe that Norman Fox and the Rob Roys also recorded "TELL ME WHY."

and it was recorded by Jimi Hendrix in England. I saw an album of old Jimi Hendrix stuff that included "Gloria" and a claim that it had never been released in the States before. I seem to recall that "Gloria" was written by Van Morrison. If I'm right then maybe the Cadillacs version mentioned previously is a different song, or maybe my aging memory cells have developed too much cross-talk. Regards, Carl Weidling.

The tune Gloria as recorded by The Cadillacs is indeed a different tune than the one recorded by "Them." I also recall that in the late fifties or early sixties that "Arthur Lee Maye & The Crowns" recorded a "Gloria" issued on the "Specialty" label.
