I went to a Christmas party that was held by JFM Business Systems here in Chicago
about 2 weeks before Christmas. There were door prizes given away such as
 a fortune 16:32 system, a 6300 plus, a IBM ps2 and a Data General One-model 2.
Guess who won the DG-1? I did! Well i got the thing home and realized what
a slow box it was and how useless it was for me. I called them back and
talked to the salesman about trading it in for a 3b2.

Aiming a bit high weren't you..

He said that he
would have to talk to Morris the owner about it and that I would have to
wait until after the 1st of the year. I waited and then called him back.
He said I would have to talk to Morris and that to call back tomorrow.
I did and did get to talk to Morris ( who was very short and curt i might
add) and he said no problem. Bring in the DG-1 and let them check it out
and they would trade me a 3b1 with a 20 meg HD and that I would have to
pay $500.00 for the OS. I thought it sounded fishy so I talked to the salesman
again and asked if he would check to see if the OS (unix) was not supposed
to come with the box. This occured wednesday when i brought the DG-1 in
for "inspection". The salesman told me that the technicians were "prepping"
my 3b1 and that I would have to come back Friday to pick it up. I called
friday and the salesan was out so I left a message. The owner called me
back and asked me about my inquiry into the OS coming with the package. He
claimed that I had said that I had called AT&T about it and that now he
is "cancelling my award". Who would think that a company that sells AT&T
3b2/400 and 600's as well as having a staff of over 15 people, 3 techs,
and numerous secretarial types would be that low. I have been contemplating
what action I should take next. Being in the TV broadcast business I could
cash in on some favors with the local network boys but I really don't want
to do that. I am just wondering what AT&T would do if they found out just
how rotten this dealer really is. I am a good customer of AT&T products
and really beleive in them. Too bad they cannot screen their dealers as
closley as they do their product line. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Should I claim it on my household insurance? Should I call the state's
attorney? Call the local network news types? Picket the premisis?
   All I really want is a 3b1.
