[misc.wanted] PC Paint file format needed

mst@csun.UUCP (Mike Temkin) (05/07/88)

I am looking for the format that PC-Paint stores its pictures in.
I seem to recall that it uses run length encoding, but I do not
remember the exact format. Any help (pointers) are appreciated.

Microsoft makes this information freely available for the asking. I
called them a while back, and they sent me a floppy with the documen-
tation for the Paintbrush and Show Partner file formats.

(I am assuming that Microsoft Paintbrush and "PC-Paint" are the same
program, or different versions of the same program. If this is not so,
I apologize for having wasted this net.bandwidth. :-{)

I e-mailed Mike a copy of this stuff. It is rather long, so I hesitate
to post it to the net, but I'm willing to *mail* it to people who *mail*
me requests.

(*Please* mail to one of the addresses in my signature; automatic
replying via the "Path:" line probably will *not* work! You have been
warned!!)
