From: <theo@ari-hq1> PR: I've tried reading some German-language Perry Rhodan pulps, but my Deutsch ain't good enuf. (Ich lese Perry Rhodan mit viel schierig- keit.) Starman: Does anybody know anything 'bout the STARMAN movies that came outa Japan? I think they were made in the 50's, but I saw 'em on L.A. tv in the late 60's. The thing that got me 'bout these movies were the stylized chase and fighting scenes. In these scenes, Starman (a Japanese "Superman") and the evil alien(s) would engage in a lotta handsprings and kung fu - like acrobatics. (I also seem to recall the style of his cos- tume/uniform making Starman look like he had webbed underarms.) From the nation's capitol (or thereabouts), The_One and only! Somtow Sucharitkul: By the way, I passed along to the good SS (I'm afraid I must indulge in some shameful initial-dropping, here) the explanations of our learned correspondents for pronouncing his name. Apparently, they are all wrong. (Just who does this guy think he is?! I thought some of those exhaustive explanations looked pretty definitive.) The prob- lems lies with the translation of the vowels. SS indicated that he may provide the definitive explanation in weeks to come. (I'm not sure if I can stand the suspense...) ------
