Does anyone out there know if IBM (or anyone else) has ever released a replacement screen for the "PC Convertible"? I would really like to get something at least backlit. I've tried my local IBM authorized computer store (Computerland) but they just give me the brush off. I guess they aren't interested in my business bad enough to look up a part number. I hope my laptop isn't orphan already. IBM did it right, one simple switch and the current display can be removed and replaced. I just wish for a backlit screen. Thanks. You have their model 001, and they introduced the model 002 about 6-8 months later. They do have an upgrade kit so you can turn yours into a model 002. It consists os a different power supply, screen and I think an internal card change. I do not have any pricing or parts information, but I would suggest you call the nearest local IBM office for details. I too have found most local stores lacking in assistance when it comes to IBM part numbers. Hope this helps...
