Some time ago, I posted asking if anyone has Zoo and/or PKZIP 1.01 compatible
software for the Macintosh. Thanks for all the net.people who responded to
this (specially djd@ziebmef.mef.org) ! MacBooz is the Mac Zoo extractor,
and UnZip 1.01 is the Zip extractor.
Both are now available from anonymous ftp at jyu.fi [128.214.7.5] and by
phone from my BBS (JyBox), +358 41 211 562 (CCITT V.22bis/V.21, Bell 212A/103)
The files are in MacBinary format.
Another software request. Does anyone have software for Unix/MS-DOS (they
should essentially be the same, nothing system dependent here) for converting
a BinHex 4.0 (Hqx) file into a MacBinary format file. Both file formats are
widely documented, so I would have thought that someone would by now have done
this. The reason is, I like to store Mac files on my BBS as MacBinary, since
people don't have to do any special tricky unpacking etc. to them when they
are loaded to a Mac. The problem is, to be able to convert a BinHex file that
has been posted to comp.binaries.mac (or archived at info-mac) I have to first
transfer the file to a Mac, then use BinHex or StuffIt to unpack it, then again
transfer the file from the Mac to the PC (or to a Unix, from which again move
them to a PC)... this is getting pretty tedious. Anyone heard of stuff like
this ?
