I need to find a Z80 compiler to produce code for embedded systems.
Can anyone recommend a good one? What I need most is the ability
to break the code into separate banks or overlays. I already have
a Z80 compiler from Archimedes Software in San Francisco. This is
a pretty good compiler; it even has built-in support for multiple
banks of code which can call one another.
Unfortunately, it does not support putting strings or other
initialized data into multiple banks. (That is, although one *can*
use its librarian to cause initialized data to be put into any bank,
the code generator and linker are unaware of this, and so produce
code which tries to access the data at the wrong address.) As a
result, its support for multiple code banks is almost useless for
my purposes.
Any suggestions are welcome, particularly if you've personally used
the compiler in question. Please mail replies directly to me; I
