Hi. We are looking for the best data compression/transmission package for a Mac system over int'l telephone lines for VERY LARGE AMOUNTS OF DATA. The names we have been given to date include Stuffit (that we use) and Viacom (spelling?). Are there better/more efficient packages available? The data is a lot of graphic files that need to be transmitted "cleanly" and quickly to save int'l phone bills. Any info or tips would be highly appreciated. Thanks Imran Anwar

I would think the best option you could take would be to purchase a modem with hardware based compression and high speed transfer. How about the telebit 19.2K modems. I think the price of these is ~$1000 now and if you are truly talking about large amounts of data you will burn up correspondingly large amounts of money using a slow (2400 bps) modem. -- Paul Fons fons@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu (internet) Coordinated Science Laboratory fons@uiucvmd (bitnet) University of Illinois 1101 W.
