Actually, I don't think it's that big a deal to discuss taping and trading on the net--for a couple of reasons: Taping Dead shows has for some time been pretty open--at most shows. It seems to be a matter of what the promoters and/or concert hall/theater/whatever folk will allow--I've been to shows where taping was explicitly allowed and shows where it was not. I think that if there were any serious challenge to tapers, we wouldn't see people advertising. As it is, both "Relix" and "The Golden Road" (and who knows how many others) publish classifieds from tapers--they do so quite openly, and Relix has been doing it for a long time. Their only criterion (with which I wholeheartedly agree) is that they don't put up with people trying to sell tapes. Besides that, we gotta get our music somehow...and it just isn't possible to get to all of the concerts. Sure would be nice if they'd get on their asses (yes, that's what I meant) and get an album out again--it's been years since the Dead Set / Reckoning pair, and they've got plenty of material. -- Dick Dunn {hao, ucbvax, allegra}!nbires!rcd (303)444-5710 x3086 ...Lately it occurs to me what a long, strange trip it's been.
