We seem to be having no problems using SONY Metal P6-120MP 8mm video tapes in our Exabyte 8200 drive, however I am worried about the future. Are these tapes good enough to work in the 8500 (?high density) drives? I haven't seen any data on what tapes to use or if they should be 'certified for data use' or whatever. I would like to have your comments, opinions, etc. and I will summarize and post the results if warranted. Yes, I *know* for archive storage I should be using the greatest, most expensive, whazoo 8mm data tapes that I can find. Trouble is, this is the real world and tradeoffs have to be made, so please don't flame me for 'risking' company data for money...I know the risks, I'm just lacking good info on tapes.
