[mod.religion.christian] An answer on what Opus Dei is

ptl@fluke.UUCP (10/14/86)

Hi, 10/13/86

From what I've been able to find out from the priest in our archdiocese
who speaks on behalf of Roman Catholic church doctrine and views,
Opus Dei a lay organization that is thought to have its origins in
Europe, possibly Spain but not sure. Opus Dei stands for Work of God.
It is thought of as a secret organization, but on the other hand it
has a seminary in Rome, men have been ordained priests from there,
and the organization has openly received support from the pope and several
of the hierachy. It is noted for supporting work of the laity along RC
church lines, and is very loyal to the pope.

That's all I've found out.

God Bless,

Mike Andrews (PTL)
