[mod.religion.christian] Help on on-line Bible

david@cires.UUCP (David Hoge) (12/21/86)

Greetings,
There is a PC software package that allows you to do searches on
the King James Translation. Someone back in the August/September time frame
mentioned that he had taken the data files and brought them onto his Unix
machine.
How do I post to the group so that I can get his e-mail address if
he is still around ??

			Thank-you very much,

[Would there be licensing issues with this? Presumably the AV is no longer
covered by copyright, but the PC software probably is. Before passing on
part of a software package to others, I'd want to make sure that the
original authors have no objections. --clh]

The KJV was distributed on some DECUS tapes once upon a time. Somehow, I
managed to get copies of the books (just a tad incomplete due to tape errors),
but they are in all upper-case (yuck). I did manage to stuff some select
portions into Jive which is quite interesting...

In 'da beginnin'... What it is mama!

I don't think it would be advisable to mail the stuff straight out, but
maybe over time or U.S. Snail, or... I suggest digging up some DECUS tapes...

We have no access to decus tapes, but would love to have on-line KJV
sources! There are a lot of Christians here who are would like to use
the UNIX tools to better study some books -- Proverbs comes to mind.
Could you send an address and how large a tape and how much handling
is involved? We would be best able to cope with tar format 1600bpi.

				Thanks!
