According to what I've heard, the members of the 'English Beat' formed 'General Public' to become what they had hoped the 'English Beat' would be.

Joe, The "somebody else from the Beat" on the General Public album is David Wakeling who pretty much was the dominating force within the Beat. Mick Jones only plays on one or two songs and is not part of General Public. Terry Bermes
