The Third Annual Texas Gay Rodeo and Great Texas
Round-Up Dance is coming November 15 - 17.
The Texas Gay Rodeo Association is hosting the rodeo at
the State Fair Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.
If this is anything like the past two TGRA rodeos (both in Houston),
you'll have a hell of a time.
Program of events:
Friday 8 pm - 2 am Bbq (till 11 pm) and Texas Sesquicentennial
Barn Dance at the Round Up Saloon in Cedar
Springs. Music by The Country Express Band.
Dance exhibitions by "the fastest feet across
the USA", aka the Texas Side Kicks.
8 pm - midnight Contestant registration at the Holiday Inn,
1955 Market Center Blvd., the host hotel.
Saturday noon Rodeo Grand Entry, Texas State Fairgrounds.
1pm Rodeo events begin: Calf roping on foot,
chute doggin', team roping, wild cow riding,
bareback bronc riding, bull riding, steer
"decorating", goat "dressing", wild cow milking,
barrell racing, poll bending, Texas flag race.

evening No activities planned. I think the bar owners
arrange this because if they had a big dance
in a large ballroom at the host hotel, no one
would go to the bars. Unfortunately, there is
hardly a gay c/w bar big enough to handle even
just the crowd of contestants, let alone rodeo
spectators and locals. Even in Texas. (Sorry
for the editorial.)

7 pm Dance at the Round Up Saloon.
9 pm Rodeo awards show, Round Up Saloon.

Early bird prices on rodeo tickets are available until November 1.
Contestants must register by November 1, or by November 14 with a late
entry fee. Contact TGRA at the address or phone number above.
BTW, the TGRA is one of 8 regional gay rodeo associations: Golden State
(California), Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas,
and Missouri Gay Rodeo Associations. Feel free to contact me if you
are interested. I can't speak for the other groups, but *everyone*
is welcome at our San Francisco Bay Area chapter meetings and functions.
Watch for our booth at the Folsom Street Fair this Sunday (Sept. 21).
(No, you don't have to know how to ride a horse to get involved!)
