At Hitler's order, the offensive against France, planned for 12 November,
is postponed. The invasion will be put off 13 more times before May 9th,
1940.

The crowns of Belgium and the Netherlands release a joint appeal for
peace, "before the war breaks out on the Western Front in all its
violence." The neutrals offer their services as mediators in the war.
France, Britain, and Germany all express polite interest.

The Italian press responds vigorously to yesterday's condemnation by
the Soviet-backed Comintern, frankly warning Russia to stay out of the
Balkans.
