[soc.misc] 50 Years Ago: You've read the series, now watch the show !

From: military@att.att.com (Bill Thacker)

As I write this, I'm (sort of) watching the televised series, "50 Years
Ago Today", which is airing on the New York superstation WWOR-9 (I'm
getting it over cable, of course).

This is the first I've seen of it, and I must say I'm surprised ! The
show is hosted by Lincoln Bloomfield (apparently: he's hosting tonight's
episode, at least), and seems to pretty much cover the same material
I'm putting in my own "50 Years Ago" series. The show appears to air
nightly, for 1/2 hour at 11:00 pm, with each episode covering one day;
so naturally, it goes into much greater detail, particularly on domestic
(USA, that is) issues.

Dr. Bloomfield is a professor of Political Science at MIT, according
to the show's credits. (Are there any readers from MIT who could give
me an address at which I can contact Dr. Bloomfield; postal or, better
yet, electronic ?) The show is a production of The Christian Science
Monitor.

If you like 50 Years Ago, I think you'll enjoy this show. And if you've
been watching the show and didn't bother to tell me about it, for shame !
