Tax deductible contributions to help support this system made payable to DPII, and sent to the above address will be greatly appreciated. This BBS is a voluntary effort of Development Programme Initiatives, Inc. DPII operates UNITEX for its' sponsor - the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, a Class I Non-Governmental Organization with consultative status before the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Ms Dorothy Nicklus, UN Representative for the IFBPW, is the Chair of DPII. As you no doubt can tell by now, this file is reserved for all those disclaimers, and notices that you would ordinarily find on the page behind the title page in a book. If you do not wish to slog through this file, or at anytime there is output you wish to stop, just type CTRL-C, usually spelled ^C. You will find a file in File Area 3 called CONTROL explaining control characters, and how to type them. Your use of UNITEX is voluntary, as is our operation of it, and no claims for any damages arising from the use of UNITEX, real or imagined, can in any way be compensated for. In other words, we are not responsible for your use of our system. Moderate attempts at security are being attempted. Each user gets to pick his or her own password. Each user is responsible for safeguarding that password. Remember also that the Sysop can see what your password is. You can change your password with the "C" command at the Main Menu. Messages marked "PRIVATE" can only be read by the sender, the intended recipient, and the System Operators. The intended recipient is ONLY matched if the caller's name matches EXACTLY that of the intended recipient. If a private message is sent to the users full name, but the user calls in with a nickname, the system will NOT allow delivery of the message. If the message is not sent as a private message, it is possible the intended recipient will read in anyway (along with everyone else). Only those designated by DPII may send Private messages. All information uploaded to UNITEX goes into a special sub-directory of the BBS (Bulletin Board System) which can only be accessed by the Sysop (System Operator). The Sysop will then determine that the material is deemed fit for moving into a download area accessible by other users. This is by no means an attempt to censor for political, or reasons other than the fact that some Twits insist on uploading material of an offensive nature (electronic graffiti). Such material will not be made available on this BBS. In fact, a special area, called MISC for "miscellaneous" has been set aside for those files uploaded by well meaning people, which are otherwise inappropriate for this board. In this way, all information that "passes inspection" that has been uploaded to this BBS, will be made available for a limited time to our callers for them to download, at their own risk. Information found on this system (except in the MISC file area) is thought to be correct, but not guaranteed to be correct. The Sysop would appreciate any corrections by any user. Corrections may be left to the Sysop when you log out with the G (Goodbye) command. The OPUS Bulletin Board Software was written by Wynn Wagner III from The P.O.L.E. of Dallas, Texas (NET/NODE 124/108).This file will someday be updated with others who should receive credit. Fido and FidoNet are trademarks of Tom Jennings. If you feel that you have information that should be distributed to our "community of interest", please feel free to send it via FidoNET mail: James Waldron (1:107/701) or you can upload it, and then leave a message to the Sysop with information about the file you've uploaded. Do not be surprised, however, if you are considered "Well Meaning", and your material winds up in the MISC area. This sort of thing is very subjective, and the Sysop's decision is final. Unitex is designed to help inform and educate people interested in the United Nations system, and to assist those who wish to help achieve the goals of the United Nations. We hope you enjoy the system.
