I am an American of european descent and live in Chicago's Rodgers Park area. Many of my neighbors are recent immigrants from India (I'm not really sure about the (Sub-Indian) ethnic makeup). There are many young, \strikingly\ beautiful, seemingly un-attached women among them. My lack of knowlege about Indian language(s)/culture(s) (as well a healthy dose of shyness) prevent me finding out directly, so I will pose my questions to the net: 1) Are 1st, or 2nd generation immigrants generally willing to have social contact with native americans? If so, does this extend to the single women dating / marrying non-Indians? 2) Are courtship rituals generally different from the american/european model? In particular, do women initiate and conduct relationships on their own, or only with the participation on their families? (i.e. arranged marriages, etc.) 3) How do women expect to meet men? I have refrained from approaching women on the street, because generally I can't tell if they are interested in talking or not, and not wanting to embarrass them if this wasn't socially acceptable. Any CONSTRUCTIVE comments/discussions welcome. Flames to /dev/null, please. -- Peter Kerrigan -- peter@icom.uccp, ..!ihnp4!icom!peter ICOM Systems, Inc. 3415 N.
