I thought this was a good book too.  One passage which impressed me in
passing was when Mavin explained to Mertyn (a young lad) how it was
that women don't appreciate being raped, while acknowledging that they
do enjoy sex in appropriate contexts.

I, too thought that passage particularly impressive.
