I am looking for the author and title of a short story that goes something
like this (*very* condensed ...) -
A scientist develops some sort of superweapon. One night, before he gives
his discovery to the government, a man comes to his house asking to see his
son. The man converses with the child, thanks the scientist, then leaves.
The scientist discovers that the man has given something to the boy - a fully
loaded (insert your favorite handgun here). The closing of the story (and
obviously a moral for the scientist) is "What kind of moron would give a loaded
gun to a child?".
Any clues???????
