Election for the Ludhiana parliamentary constituency has been countermanded
following the killing of an Akali Dal candidate Mr.Saktar Singh who
was killed by unidentified gun men today. Already in the state, elections to
five assembly const. have been countermanded following the death of the
candidates seeking election.

The CE commissioner Mr.T.N.Sheshan has said, there is no need to postpone
elections in any part of the country including Bihar as of now. He was
addressing a news conference in Hyderabad today.

The PM Mr.CS said that Punjab problem can be solved only through 
dialogue and peaceful negotiations. Addressing a press conference in
Alwar Rajasthan, the PM said his govt will not compromise on the unity
and the territorial integrity of the country while finding a negotiable
settlement to the problems of Punjab, J&K or any other problem.

The former CM of J&K Dr.Farooq Abdullah said only a strong govt at the
center can keep the country united and solve the problems in J&K and
Assam. Dr.Abdullah was attending a meeting in Bihar.

Nepal goes to polls tomorrow. About 1345 candidates are in fray 
for the 205 member house of representatives. General elections are
being held in the Himalayan kingdom after a gap of 32 years. The
main contest is between the ruling Nepalese Congress and the Nepal
Communist party.

Colossal Flop:

National Front Chairman, Mr.N.T.Rama Rao, has been persuaded by the
front partners not to release the Tamil and Hindi versions of his
latest celluloid offering "Bramharshi Vishwamitra". Agter witnessing
the colossal flop of the Telugu version of the movie in Andhra PRadesh,
nobody in the front wants to take a chance. The film has not only
failed miserably, but it has also caused tremendous embarrassment for
the TDP and its allies. Particularly the posters depicting NTR and
Meenakshi Sheshadri have become the butt of criticism and jokes from
Congress circles. When these reached VP Singh, Mr.Karunanidhi and
other front leaders they were mortified at the prospects of the Hindi
and Tamil versions being released around poll time. They are also 
begining to doubt reports about the comeback of Nandamoori.


Granted:
Permission by the court to four sikhs to contest the forth coming elections
in Punjab. They were involved in the hijacking of an Indian Air lines
Boeing from Chandigarh to Dubai in 1987.

Khalistan funds:
The center expressed serious concern over PTI reports that Khalistan
protagonists are raising massive funds for extremist activities in
Punjab in view of the election in the state next month.

Sealed:
The India-Nepal border due to the coming general elections. The decision
was taken at a meeting by both countries.

Devilal Sons withdrawn:
The candidature of both sons of Devilal- former Haryana CM O.P.Chautala
and Ranjit Singh, MP form contesting in the coming elections.

Yadav injured:
along with his body guard at a meeting in Bettaiah which was disrupted
by an angry mob. It happend during an election meeting addressed by
the UP CM.
