by Yanis Maistros ( Convenor of the ELOT / TE 48 / WG 2 )
date : 25 JUNE 1986
At the ISO TC 97 / SC 2 / WG 4 meeting in Athens the following
arrangement has been accepted as the Greek_Latin 8-bit coded character set.
ELOT TE48 Technical Committee, responsible for the establishment of
National Standards, has already aproved this as THE 8-bit Coded
Character Set.
Following is the Table of the new Standard (to appear very shortly ! )
It is almost certain that this Standard will be accepted from the
ECMA Technical Committee and the European CEN/CENELEC Standardization
authorities.
Furthermore, an International ISO Standard will be developped, according
to this arrangement (namely, ISO 8859/Latin-Greek).
The above mentioned Greek Standard is provided to meet the requirements
of the MONOTONIKO system of the Modern Greek Language.
