Being a member of the Black Watch (RHR) of Canada (the pipe band)(reserve)
and having first hand experiance with kilts made from the heaviest
of wool blends, having pleats of 5 inches, taking 10-12 yards of material,
and weighing a ton, I think one will cost you a bundle. You might want to
look around Aldershot, Nova Scotia, since this is where the active battalions
were disbanded in the 60's.i Or you might check with the second battalion
in Montreal; or sometimes old kilts can be found in army surplus stores in
Canada (this is becoming rarer and rarer....) If you really want some
information you should write Bruce Bolton, The Olde Fort, Ste. Helenes
Island,Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was once the regimental sargeant
major of the regiment, and is now an officer.
