1) the email or mail address of Gareth Loy, a computer musician at
(I think) UCSD;  or

2) info (preferably detailed) on CARL, a music / acoustic research
language system running under UNIX, which Loy is connected with.  Please
email me manuals or man pages if you have them.

I have CARL and even have generated some music with it.  It is
horrendously ineffiecent but infinitly flexible.  A knowledge
of UNIX would have aided this project.  An incredible speed up
was attained when they stopped calling "system" to process each
note.
