Oops. I think you've made a boo-boo, Mr. Lippert. Notwithstanding
the running discussion on this subject, and the aspect of a running
joke, YOUR ARTICLE WAS CROSS POSTED INTO NEWS.GROUPS! This is
considered, I think, Not A Good Thing To Do. And while I shan't
comment on most of the other discussion, except to say that I think
that maybe talk.bizarre might ought to go alt., I really think that
your posting, cross-posted as it was, was a net.faux.pas, and maybe
you.shouldn't.do.it.again. Hmmm?

Well, I'm going to do it again right now, Jay. I hope you can
handle the.effects.on.your.psyche.

If talk.bizarre is destroyed or turned into an alt.froup, we
will all just regroup some place else, rec.equestrian, say.
Or maybe we should just take over soc.singles.

Why don't we take over one of the comp groups,
I doubt anyone would even notice it.

Yeah! You tell him, trish! "Fall back and re-group" I like that! Let's
take over some other newsfroup! Isn't that what war is all about?

There ain't no such thing as rec.psi, peoples...

Same old same old. I first heard this one as a justification for the
creation of talk.bizarre in the first place, and nothing seems to have
changed much, eh?

>"boo-boo" ??? what is this? talk.second.grade?

Must be, judging from all the second-grade mentalities that seem to be
around.

rec.psi exists at my site, but there have only been 115 articles
posted to it. They did not give any reasons why they do not want
to support specific groups. I find the whole idea of restricting
     netnews pretty bizarre.

<Smile> Certainly I can handle the.effects.on.my.psyche, Trish.
*Your* posting contained intellectual content, something lacking in
the posting to which you quote my response. Therefore, they aren't in
the same category. And aren't.the.dots.a.nice.inside.joke?

By the way, I'm curious. What does the dot over the 'o' in your last
name signify? Is it a diacritical mark?

Sounds like they're restricting netnews just for the sake of restricting
something...after all, they are AT&T.

No, No, No. net.psi will become
a newsgroup on April 23, 1993 (the day the aliens land
to clean up the garbage they were dumping on
earth 2.5 billion years ago --- hey, intergalatic bureaucracies
move slowly). It's just that psi powers being what
they arn't, some machines are getting the group before it exists.
After all, you all have noticed how the net violates causality
(how many times do you have to wait to read the original note when
you already have 10 followups? Hmmm?). In fact, could you check
and see what I'm posting on it? I'd like to know what I'm up
to (other then 5'8")...

Somebody must say the proper bizarre thing here before someone else says the
same thing seriously. It might as well be me:

Netnews is a privilege not a right. The privately owned conglomerates which
own us as well could rightly restrict the news to absolute zero and we should
then be grateful. They are our masters and betters and have the right - nay,
the responsibility to restrict the news and if you dont like it, you're not only
ungrateful but mentally disturbed as well, have never had to meet a payroll, are
unaware of the enormous costs borne cheerfully by the aforementioned
conglomerates solely bcause the love us (unworthy though we be), and don't live
in the real world. This is NOT a free speech issue (as would be the issue of
AT&T not charging for phone calls) but a free enterprise issue. You're
perfectly able and welcome to work/live elsewhere and create your own news
network with your own policies. Groups like rec.psi should never have existed
in the first place: first because they're "rec" which means unserious (i.e.
never had to meet a payroll) and second because they're "psi" which means
unscientific.

There. It's been said. Now everyone get back to work. NOW!!! I mean it!!
I'm not kidding!!
