[talk.origins] 'Evidence'

arndt@lymph.dec.com (09/19/86)

Scott and a few others have asked me to put up some 'evidence' both to
the belief that God exists and that the Bible has meaning for us.

I asked what would constitute 'Proof' to someone that God exists!! And posted
a 'fun' article on Mr. ED and Scrooge facing the problem. (Scott - it was only
a 'fun' article guy. Don't get silly on us.)

I'd like to know, so I can address the issue just what 'evidence' IS. What
would convince anyone that God exists or that the Bible has meaning?

At least define evidence for us and let me have a whack at it.

Now if you come at it from purely rationalistic/materialistic axioms I'm going
to ask you why. Isn't that fair? Why chose those axioms?

So let's hear it Scott, what's your epistomological method? What do you mean
when you say 'show us the evidence'?

Thanks and keep chargin'
