Good day fellow netters. I am an engineer at NASA Ames Research Center currently involved in the development of a biologally based computational model of the cerebellum (ala Marr, Albus, Kanerva). Because my formal background is not that of a biologist I am having a difficult time tracking down some types of information. In particular I am interested in the following: 1. Where can I find detailed descriptions of the cerebellums interneuron (basket and stellate cells) arborization patterns; please not the term detailed, I have gone through more than 100 articles on this subject and feel confident about the "general" characteristics of the matter? 2. Between 1970 and 1974 Dr. Victoria Chan-Palay did a series of extensive investigations on the cerebellums lateral (dentate) nucleus. Have other researchers done similar work on the other deep cerebellar nuclei -- to the point where their structure, cell counts, and synaptic patterns are known? 3. G. Edelmans new book, "Topobiology" has recently come out. Does anyone who has read it care to share their opinions? Please send responses directly to me instead of to the net in general. If I receive more than 2 or 3 replys they will be summarized and reported. Thanx in advance.......................................................... coe@pluto.arc.nasa.gov NASA Ames Research Center
